Effect of land cover change and elevation on decadal trend of land surface temperature: a linear model with sum contrast analysis

چکیده
Land surface temperature (LST) is a significant factor in energy balance and global climatology studies. cover (LC) elevation are two factors that affect the change of LST, their effects depend on different geography. This study aims to demonstrate an alternative approach examine LST during 20 years (2001 2020) Taiwan Island investigate effect LC decadal trend using linear model adjusting for each determinate factor. MODIS data, as well GMTED2010 product, were downloaded available website. The natural cubic spline function was used annual seasonal patterns LST. Linear regression estimate long-term time series. Weighted sum contrasts assess transformation by comparing mean all factors. adopted analysis method appropriate categorical than those based treatment contrasts, requiring specifying control group compare means confidence intervals. Results showed there increase most island. average daytime nighttime trends 0.12 0.31 °C/decade, respectively. However, areas southern part north–south direction mountain range show statistically both nighttime. major landslides caused this noticeable due catastrophic damage typhoon Morakot 2009. results also revealed pattern has but not trends. above 600 m had affected LSTs.

Impact of urban land cover change on land surface temperature
The rapid growth in urban population is seen to create a need for the development of more urban infrastructures. In order to meet this need, natural surfaces such as vegetation are been replaced with non-vegetated surfaces such as asphalt and bricks which has the ability to absorb heat and release it later. This change in land cover is seen to increase the land surface temperature. Previous stu...

Land cover/land use categories are relevant components in land management. Understanding how land cover/land use change over time is necessary to assess the consequences of humans and natural stressors on the earth’s environment and resources. The aim of the study was to map and monitor the spatial and temporal change in land cover/land use for the periods of 1977, 1991 and 2016 and to predict ...

This study analyzes the characteristics of land use/land cover change in Jordan’s Irbid governorate, 1984–2018, and predicts future land use/land cover for 2030 and 2050 using a cellular automata-Markov model. The results inform planners and decision makers of past and current spatial dynamics of land use/land cover change and predicted urban expansion, for a better understanding and successful...
